About Zion United Church
Our Mission Statement
In response to God’s love
and guided by Christ’s Spirit
we are called to be
a welcoming community,
celebrating in worship,
serving in hope,
reaching out in compassion
and nurturing wholeness
as we journey together in faith.

History is an important aspect of Zion United’s personality. First established in 1839 as the Evangelical Gemeinshaft Association, the congregation grew, changed, and, finally emerged as Zion United Church following
the 1968 union of the Canada Conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and The United Church of Canada .
Now approaching its 170th year of service, the Zion community of faith is once again undertaking a process of renewal. You are invited to share in this exciting time in our faith journey.
Community Zion has played an active role in the community since its inception. Over the years, the Zion family has organized and supported programs for both youth and seniors, early childhood education, English language training, refugee support, affordable housing and third world outreach.
This tradition of caring continues today with Zion’s involvement with Canadian Food for Children, as well as other initiatives.
Zion shares its large and beautiful premises with Rockway Mennonite Church, and several shared events occur throughout the year, to the enrichment of both congregations.
